Holiday haircut tips from Conway Village Barber Shop

Hello everyone! Been having some cold days lately which is nice. It is getting very close to Thanksgiving. Most folks will spend it with family and friends, many they may not have seen for awhile.

Then after that of course is Christmas; another holiday with lots of family and friend get togethers. Most people want to look their best this time of year, and that includes having their hair look nice.

So I thought I would throw out a few holiday haircut tips for everyone so you can look your best. The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year for barbers and barbershops.

Everyone is getting a nice fresh haircut, maybe trying a new style, coloring their hair and so on. Of course the kids will need a fresh haircut too so they look their best at the family gatherings.

So it is a good idea to make an appointment so you can be sure you get a spot. Here at Conway Village Barber Shop you still can just walk in and chances are good you will not have to wait long, if any.

But to be sure an appointment at this time of year is a good idea. If a family with 3 kids come in, all wanting a haircut it will take some time. The next thing to think about is how long before the holiday event you are going to should you get your haircut.

Generally you want to get your haircut or trim 1-2 weeks before your holiday event. That gives your hair time to “settle” a bit. The hair will look more natural and all over smooth.

In fact there is a 7 day rule saying for haircuts. It generally takes around 7 days after a haircut for the hair to “soften” and settle for a natural look. Right after a haircut the hair ends can be stiff or puffy, with some areas sticking up.

So shoot for getting a holiday haircut 1-2 weeks before your get together for best results. I know my own hair looks better after about a week from my haircut!

If you want to get a nice, smooth and clean close shave however wait till the last day you can before getting one. Since the whole point of a shave is to have your face smooth with clean sharp edges.

Our barbers at Conway Village Barber Shop are ready and waiting for you to give you your best holiday season haircut. Bring the whole family and give the kids a haircut too. Happy Holidays!
